my boy.

I had great plans for Sunday.

I was going to stay up & finish the Hunger Games,

go to church,

finish up any last minute reading, 

& take maggie to the movie that she's been waiting & waiting for.

yeah. that didnt happen.

i did stay up until 1 reading.

then i woke up at 7 & read til 9:30am.

then i got ready for church (had on a very cute outfit btw)

i realized i was never going to finish the book in time if i went to church

& i couldnt let maggie down so i SKIPPED church :O

well things got weird when i was sitting in my car reading with jesse in 

the passenger seat...

(starbucks was far too noisy for the concentration i needed)

& i got to a gory part in the book,

fainted,

freaked jesse out,

(only the second time he's seen me faint!!)

he drove me home,

and sat with me alllllll day.

luckily carolyn took maggie to the movie for me

& pretended to be the big sister for a couple hours.

whatta good friend!! love her.

meanwhile jesse & i watched too much TV.

(for all those wondering, apparently HG was AMAZING & HIGHLY recommended.

but that isn't coming from me. ;) )

love is bringing tulips to your sick girlfriend.

 love is sitting & waiting while she takes too many pictures of said tulips.

pi... in the sky.

pi week doesn't end at simply eating a piece of pi(e).

so my school (or just the kids who wanted to skip 7th hour)

lined up in order of pi & released these balloons with tags asking 

people who find the balloons to email us & tell us where they were found.

im convinced mine will escape the atmosphere this year. : )

happy pi day!

pi day is the math team's major school event of the year,

& we do it right.

we give everyone a choice of 6 kinds of pie,

banana cream, mint, oreo, apple, lemon meringue and french silk.

at the low price of $1.50 you get a huge piece of deliciousness.

i chose mint, because, well mint rocks.

pi day also means i get to hang out with my mathlete friends all day! : )

home sick & crafting

so today i was feeling icky & so i stayed home.

i did occupy my time though by crafting.

made some bible covers!

Officially blogging from school! Here are a few pictures of what's been going on lately.

mandazi

today after school i made delicious mandazi!

mandazi is essentially an african doughnut.

 here's the recipe if you want to try it!
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 Tablespoons melted butter
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder

mix all the ingredients together & add more flour if it's too sticky. roll the dough out,
cut into pieces and fry in hot oil until both sides are golden brown.
(some of mine got a little too much heat ;))

cover in powdered sugar & you're done!

mandazi is popular in Kenya & often served at bed & breakfasts.
